Community football in Sunderland is being given a major boost with three new Football Hubs at Northern Area, Ford Quarry and Downhill. The multi-million pound project for the three Sunderland sites has been delivered with Esh Construction and was funded by the Football Foundation, Sport England and Sunderland City Council.
The project at Northern Area included the demolition of an existing outdated changing block and the construction of new car parking, 4no new artificial grass pitches and a new Pavilion building providing changing rooms, community social rooms and coaching spaces. The artificial grass pitches will be used by local football clubs including youth teams, and one of the pitches will also be used for rugby.
Each of Sunderland’s Football Hubs will be operated by Pulse Soccer, who have experience running similar Hub models in Sheffield and Liverpool.
